Bath Daze

Well, I had a bath today. I'm getting used to them now, and sometimes I even forget to make a fuss and find myself enjoying the water - especially on my tummy.

Daddy's very good at burping me - or at least helping me get the wind out one end or the other!

Family & Friends

Uncle Robert came all the way from Brisbane to visit me today. It was very nice to meet him!

Mummy's good friend Andra came to see me too - it was a big day for visitors! (No, I'm not on her lap - Mummy is holding me and it's a funny photo angle)

Merry Christmas!

This morning I woke up with sparklie Christmas booties on!
I'm not quite sure what Christmas is, but Mummy and Daddy had a cute card with my footprints in it waiting for them this morning as well as some very cute Christmas mice!
And then we all had a visit from Santa (whoever she is... I'm sure I'll work it out by next year!).

The Red Suit

I was specially put in a red suit, even though I haven't had a proper bath for a few days now. I got very cold so they've given me back my lovely heated mattress - so snugglie!

I was almost going home today, but now I'm not. Trying to keep warm I got so tired that I had to have a feed down a tube again after all this time.

Something funny is happening tomorrow, but I haven't quite worked out what...

Armpit Blues ...

I really really hate having my temperature taken and they've been doing it a lot lately - yucky cold thing in my armpit ... Today my special warm mattress was taken away. The nurses reduced its temperature and eventually turned it off. When they know my temperature has really stabilised, I can go home with Mummy and Daddy.

Funky Stereo

Today I had my first go at a funky stereo system - pretty cool eh... Well, actually it was a hearing test and those monitor cables check my brain activity in reaction to the sounds in the earphones. I can't say much for their taste in music .... One ear was tested fine, and they'll come back another day to check the other one again.


And a bath as well... phew! I'm grumpy here because I was very hungry.

Cuddles with Daddy

Another 4 breastfeeds today, and only bottles overnight.

I had a head x-ray as well, to find out what's going on with my interesting head shape.
I had a lovely cuddle with Daddy. He sleeps more than I do - something about a combination of jetlag and the darkened nursery...

Daddy's Home!

Daddy arrived to visit today. I haven't seen him for a really long time so it was lovely to see him!

I had 4 breastfeeds again today and a bottle at 4 am.

Daddy took pictures of Mummy bathing me. First I was undressed under the heat lamps - just like having a tropical holiday!
Then Mummy washed my head and face and dried them so I don't get cold.

I quite like swimming around like a little frog on my tummy...

But I'm not so keen going in backwards.

Another Real Bath

I was really worried when Mummy bundled me up in a towell... Yep, a bath which seemed to me like swimming pool proportions. I got weighed beforehand and came in at 2.09 kg!

"Uncle" Bruce visited and took these photos.

I wasn't too happy about the whole thing...

Until I was dry again, when I had a very thoughtful moment.

Tough Life...

Eating, then sleeping; eating, then sleeping; eating, then sleeping... and a few nappy changes. It's a tough life you know!

Here I am in my super-dooper heated cot with my mummy. I'm all sleepy and contented after a breastfeed - I had 3 today - yum!

Past the Big 2-0!!

Today I had another real bath. I was ok once I was in... I got that cute fluffy hair after a quick towell dry. I got weighed as well - 2.03kg.


Mummy could only find clothes a little bit big for me...

Electric Blanket in a Big Boy's Bed

Today I got moved back to a big boy's bassinet. They decided to trial a special neonatal warming mattress since I haven't been able to regulate my own body temperature quite well enough to be in a cot otherwise.

I had a visit from the baby physiotherapist this afternoon and she did some work with me under the heat lamps. I wasn't sure what to make of her Buddha pose.
She put me on my tummy which sent me straight to sleep - but see, I do have a bottom now!!

Mummy and I had a bit of a chat before my feed...

Then I had a yummy breastfeed - I always feel a bit tired and sleepy then. Ahhhh - contentment... Zzzz

Just Hanging Around...

Lovely midwife Gill thought I was so cute that she couldn't resist carrying me around the nursery for a while after my breastfeed this evening. (I kinda like her too!) It's very comfy hanging over her arm like that, especially when I have a little bit of wind...

I got weighed again today and I put on just 10 grams - now up to 1.95 kg! My tube feeds are up to 58 ml but all this sucking takes up some of my growing energy.

Slurpie Sunday

I've moved up to 3 breastfeeds a day now (except when Mummy's at work all day). It's so nice and snugglie to get my food that way!

When I have my other feeds they are still through my feeding tube - food without effort - easy!

Feeding with Cuddles

Feeding with cuddles again today - yum! I weighed in at 1.94 kg today and Mummy gave me a "top & tail" inside my crib.
I did a little crib dance after my feed with my very cute booties on.

Blue ...

An eerie blue light spread through the nursery tonight... Well, one of the neighbouring cribs contained a baby with jaundice and the treatment is phototherapy with ultraviolet light.

With all the other lights off, it seemed like the first disco experience for the small ones of us here!

I had 2 yummy breastfeeds today. For the first time, that was all I needed until the next feed!
After my feed I usually have a little nap... I got very cold last night, so I'm back in my nice warm crib again.

No Strings Attached

I've been such a good boy breathing all the time that I don't have any wires attaching me to a monitor any more. Mummy can just pick me up any time! My feeds are now 4th hourly - 55 ml, and Mummy will come and give me 2 breastfeeds each day.

I weighed in at 1.89 kg today, and then had my first ever proper bath. Mummy had a lesson from one of my nurses, lovely Lisa, who's also pretty good with the camera.

First my face and hair was washed - like my new fluffy style?
Then into the bath - all of me ... I wasn't quite sure about it and held very tightly onto Mummy's thumb with my hand.

I quite liked paddling when Mummy flipped me over onto my tummy...
There were some lovely warm lamps to keep me from being cold before and after my dip. Here's Mummy just after drying me - yum!
This is the smallest singlet Mummy could find ... more of a dress really.
