Cuddles & Sleeps...

Rels From a Distance

Today my Uncle John and cousin Bella came to visit. They live a long way away. Bella turned 9 during her visit - happy birthday Bella!

Bella drew this wonderful picture of me! She also gave me a lovely cuddle. She's used to babies and I felt very safe in her arms.
I got to have a chat with my Uncle John too.

I made some artworks (with a bit of help from Uncle John and Mummy), including one with Bella's foot and handprints with mine - one for our Gran I think! Bella took this shot - isn't she clever!

At the end of it all, I just had to go to sleep exhausted by my own creativity.........

Head Doctor

Today I went to visit a neurosurgeon with Mummy and my Gran. He liked the odd shape of my head so much he asked for some extra pictures of it (CT scan) in a few weeks time.

Overall, life is pretty peachy!

I do sleep a lot too...

Home Sweet Home

Gee, it's pretty quiet and peaceful here. I sleep under my lovely quilt all the time.
I've been given a beautiful wrap covered in angels. I sleep really well with that round me!

There are all sorts of rooms here. It's quite interesting to have a bit of a change of scenery every now and again!

I still had to have a bath here too - not quite as bad as before...

Gran's First Cuddle

My gran was finally allowed to give me a cuddle', now that I'm out of hospital.
First we gazed into each others' eyes for a bit...


Then we had a little dance (foxtrot I think).


Then I sang her a little song. She said she liked it. I certainly liked my cuddles!

Escape!

Finally, my escape plan has come off! Since my temperature has been good even with no heated mattress, I'm going home with Mummy and Daddy today! Here's me with some of my wonderful nurses.

Here's Mummy with wonderful nurse Christine who nursed me at the very beginning and made sure I got my first cuddle. She gave me a lovely quilt as a goodbye present. I have it in my bassinet all the tme now - it's beautiful!

Here I am, about to go home (where ever that is). I think this new big set of wheels seems pretty funky...
And this, apparently, is "home"... That's a huge "cot" next to mine - wow!

Day 100

Today started reasonably normally, and Daddy drew a lovely picture of the big sign and balloons that the nurses hung up for my 100th day in the Neonatal Unit.
I'd no sooner finished my 12 o'clock feed than all the nurses from 2 shifts in the whole nursery came to sing "Happy Birthday" to me for my 100th day!

And I got a cake! I helped Mummy cut it.

Out of the Frying Pan ...

Well, I wasn't concerned when they turned off my heated mattress today. I reckon I've got enough weight on me now at 2.52 kg to keep myself warm - I hope. If I can, then I can go home with Mummy and Daddy. I was just musing on all this while I had my bath...
Then I had some yummy milk for dinner. Daddy took this photo when I was having a little rest - and a burp - scuse me.

Day Release - Happy New Year !

Today was a really exciting day. Mummy and Daddy got to take me for a walk between feeds. I totally approve of my new wheels! We went for a bit of a trip down some hospital corridors first...

Then I discovered there's this place called "Outside". It seems very big and has a nice bright blue ceiling that moves . Lots of strange smells and sounds.

After we got back from our walk I was weighed - and I'm now up to 2.44 kg. That's an increase of 100g in 2 days - yipee!

After I've had a good feed I just fall fast asleep!

Bath Daze

Well, I had a bath today. I'm getting used to them now, and sometimes I even forget to make a fuss and find myself enjoying the water - especially on my tummy.

Daddy's very good at burping me - or at least helping me get the wind out one end or the other!

Family & Friends

Uncle Robert came all the way from Brisbane to visit me today. It was very nice to meet him!

Mummy's good friend Andra came to see me too - it was a big day for visitors! (No, I'm not on her lap - Mummy is holding me and it's a funny photo angle)

Merry Christmas!

This morning I woke up with sparklie Christmas booties on!
I'm not quite sure what Christmas is, but Mummy and Daddy had a cute card with my footprints in it waiting for them this morning as well as some very cute Christmas mice!
And then we all had a visit from Santa (whoever she is... I'm sure I'll work it out by next year!).

The Red Suit

I was specially put in a red suit, even though I haven't had a proper bath for a few days now. I got very cold so they've given me back my lovely heated mattress - so snugglie!

I was almost going home today, but now I'm not. Trying to keep warm I got so tired that I had to have a feed down a tube again after all this time.

Something funny is happening tomorrow, but I haven't quite worked out what...

Armpit Blues ...

I really really hate having my temperature taken and they've been doing it a lot lately - yucky cold thing in my armpit ... Today my special warm mattress was taken away. The nurses reduced its temperature and eventually turned it off. When they know my temperature has really stabilised, I can go home with Mummy and Daddy.

This is me having a bit of a top-up of milk after a feed.

Funky Stereo

Today I had my first go at a funky stereo system - pretty cool eh... Well, actually it was a hearing test and those monitor cables check my brain activity in reaction to the sounds in the earphones. I can't say much for their taste in music .... One ear was tested fine, and they'll come back another day to check the other one again.


And a bath as well... phew! I'm grumpy here because I was very hungry.

Cuddles with Daddy

Another 4 breastfeeds today, and only bottles overnight.

I had a head x-ray as well, to find out what's going on with my interesting head shape.
I had a lovely cuddle with Daddy. He sleeps more than I do - something about a combination of jetlag and the darkened nursery...
