Self aggrandisement most likely. Think of all those millions of keystrokes happening every day. Who's reading it? Who is writing it?
Scale the effort, energy and thought that goes intro blogging and we could probably store up enough energy to send man up to Mars and back again, solve the meaning of the universe and feed the world meat.
Cynical you ask? Flip more than likely.
